The new cars with the largest towing capacity in Germany (2025)
There is always something to pull. Whether caravans or horse trailers, quite a few car customers in Germany want a high towing capacity. So, with the support of our colleagues in the "autosalon" catalogue, we took a look around to see which new cars can really carry away a lot. Exceptions are real commercial vehicles such as a Unimog or models that are not regularly available for sale in this country, such as a Ford F-150.
But even so, there are still many new cars left on the German market. It turns out that with all-wheel drive, automatic and diesel, a lot is towed away. Even more useful are the ladder frames of the pick-ups. Small cars, electric cars or plug-in hybrids are out of the question by 95 percent. And under 2,000 kilograms of towing capacity, braked at a 12 percent gradient, our list doesn't even begin. We always indicate the maximum possible value within a series.

If you like it classy but don't want a BMW, Alpina offers the mighty XB7 based on the X7. The towing capacity is 3,500 kilograms.
